This remote access module has the ability to aggregate data from multiple instances of InterMapper and show you all of your networks as they link into one. It has remote access so you can manage and monitor your network from anywhere that you have an Internet connection. There is an add-on so you can dump all of the data coming out of your network into the Splunk big data service. It also has a cool feature that will allow you to export the physical topology of your network and its devices out onto the Google Earth mapping system. The most recent versions of the InterMapper tool are written in Java, and the tool is capable of discovering and mapping just about anything on the network with an IP address. Since that time, Brown has been the company’s president, Pompian has been its chief financial officer, and Fisher has been its chief of research and development. In April 2000, they got commercial backing from Stuart Pompian and launched Dartware as a company. It was one of the first network mapping tools ever created, and in 1996, Brown and Fisher convinced Dartmouth to allow the tool to be sold commercially.

Intermapper platforms software#
The software was originally a network sniffer that had a graphical user interface and ran on Apple Macintoshes. InterMapper is a spin-out of an internally developed network monitoring tool created by Rich Brown, then network manager at the university, and computer science student Bill Fisher. (There’s a reason Network World magazine was up there, after all.) The dart in Dartware is not the pub game, but rather Dartmouth College, the Ivy League school in New Hampshire. The move will allow Help/Systems to better expand into the Windows, Linux, and Unix system management, monitoring, and job scheduling markets that are adjacent to the OS/400 and IBM i market that it grew out of.ĭartware comes out of the networking corridor that wraps around Boston and extends into New Hampshire. Systems management, security, and analytics software maker Help/Systems continued on its acquisition tear as 2012 came to a close, and last week announced that it had bought Dartware, which peddles a popular system monitoring tool called InterMapper.

The robust network management feature allows managing the network from an intuitive interface and quickly accessing the data needed.Help/Systems Buys Dartware To Build Out Heterogeneous Monitoring The proactive network monitoring feature monitors all the devices, interfaces, servers, and application 24/7 by using SNMP and other protocols to poll their current status continuously. The automatic network mapping feature enables discovering and documenting every IP-enabled device in the network within minutes. Intermapper also allows monitoring conventional Cisco devices. They achieve this by getting detailed performance information on Cisco ASA firewalls and wireless WAN controllers with probes that are now built into the Intermapper directly. With Intermapper, organizations can store data in less space. Intermapper offers businesses with an excellent platform that facilitates capturing and reporting on network traffic for more devices exceptionally high-speed equipment. Through this, the IT team saves time, reduce frustration, and keep customers and users happy. With Intermapper, businesses can troubleshoot issues faster by spotting problems across the distributed environment in seconds. Through this, it enables organizations to fund and fix technology issues before users or customers are impacted. The network monitoring software achieves this by sending real-time alerts when there is trouble via text, email, sound, and more. Intermapper maps the network topology to give a live view of what's happening on the entire distributed IT environment with a powerful and user-friendly tool. Intermapper provides a variety of map layout options and icon choices that help in bringing the user's unique IT environment to life. Intermapper is a network monitoring software that uses color-coded statuses that tell what's up and what's down on the network.
